Get to Know Us!

Hello and thank you so much for stopping by!

My name is Kirst and I am the farmer behind Three Chi's Acre. I get lots of farm help from my husband Cody, and our three Chihuahuas Lucy, Merle Haggard, and Huckleberry..... our security detail.

My background outside of flowers, is a Bachelor of Science in Clothing and Textile studies. I think my years studying textiles is actually a perfect pairing for growing flowers. I love and appreciate seeing the all of the different and unique colours, textures, and details each bloom offers us.

If I am not outside working away with flowers or the animal crew, I can usually be found in the gym. I am an Olympic Weightlifting athlete and coach, competing year round in a sport I love so much.

My heart has a major soft spot for animals of any kind... well minus snakes.  So we love having our crew of now two chihuahuas ( heartbreakingly, we said goodbye to our great love Lucy after 17 years of living life together June 2023) chickens, and ducks around for all the cuteness and entertainment. In my spare time I love to listen to murder podcasts, spend time with friends, and watch my fav show - Rupaul's Drag Race.

If I am not putting Cody to work, he can usually be found out in the garage working away on his project car or out adventuring on his motorcycle.

I got into growing flowers because I care so deeply about our planet and creating growing practices that support a healthy environment for all. I was lucky to grow up with my Oma who grew a beautiful garden as well as My Grandpa Joe who was also an incredible gardener.  I believe in keeping things local, using sustainable and regenerative soil practices, less plastic, zero chemicals, and helping to reduce the carbon footprint the floral industry creates.

Flowers are healing. In a world where so much seems out of control and frantic, growing anything, slows us down. We put our hands in the soil, we take care to plant tiny seeds, oh so delicately into the soil. We have to be present and most importantly (the part I find the most challenging) patient, as nature takes its course. Walking through a field filled with rows of flowers, that started out the size of a tiny seed, is pure magic. The scents, the colours, the shapes, it speaks to your soul. It grounds you. When we see peoples faces light up taking our flowers home, it fills our hearts with so much love and gratitude.

Through this experience of growing our farm, we have met some of the most lovely people and talented growers. I get to hear so many stories from people who grow or used to grow flowers and learn so much, it is such a special journey. We are grateful to be among some amazing local farmers offering our communities beautiful blooms grown with so much love.

We acknowledge with gratitude that we are able to live and farm within the Scia'New Territory.

Thank you for supporting our dream, and choosing to support local seasonal flowers! ♥
